The Election of Barack Obama
Hundreds of mostly 30-something young
people spontaneously descended on the Front Page Restaurant to
watch the 2008 election. The restaurant was not expecting more
than a few people, and had given most of the staff the night off.
The manager Abdellatif
"Tom" Bouhsane reserved a table for us where we could see
the monitors over the elbow-to-elbow crowd. (We definitely raised
the average age.)
I don't think I have ever seen so
many people in so small a space make such a genuinely joyous cheer
as when the returns for Pennsylvania flashed on the monitors.
