Map of Our Trip through Big Cypress

From Naples, there are two routes to Big Cypress. One is Interstate 75, which is better known as "Alligator Alley." The other is US 41 which runs to the south.

We took 41 -- the Tamiami Trail -- to the Big Cypress National Preserve. This turned out to be the most memorable part of our whole Florida trip.

Near the Park Headquarters in Ochopee, we took a short side trip up route 829 but soon returned to the main road. The Visitors Center, near the intersection of US 41and SR 94, is not all that impressive, but we did get Alan's pin.

And -- importantly -- decided at the last minute to take the Loop Drive.
