Why People Retire to Florida |
||||
|
Nancy Jane and Music Nancy Jane has found in Florida retirement a casual and rich life style. The book in Nancy Jane's arm, Mary Jane Phillips-Matz's Verdi: A Biography, is emblematic of one and perhaps her principal raison d'etre. A great part of her life revolves around the musical offerings in Daytona Beach, Orlando and Sarasota. The Daytona Beach Symphony Society, the Daytona Beach Community College and its sister institution, the University of Central Florida, offer a surprisingly rich cultural calendar, as does nearby Stetson University in DeLand. Orlando, an hour away, has the relatively new Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. The Sarasota Opera (a two hour's drive) is now in its 43rd season. Sarasota is also home to the popular Sarasota Blues Festival held annually in November.
