This shaggy bison, shedding his winter coat in June, decided first to cross the road near the Madison junction. Half way across he changed his mind and decided to walk down the middle of the highway. Traffic was backed up a half mile in both directions.
These animals weigh a ton, can run 30 mph, and are unpredictable. Those horns could make a mess out of a person or a car. I was worried about both. You will note that he is on my side of the not-very-wide road. I am at the head of the line of traffic and pulled over as far as I can almost in the ditch.
